MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM SPECIALIST II
Entry Salary: $27,242 PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN (GRADE 15)

Direct care staff work on a rotational schedule and may be required to work any day of the week to meet the needs of the hospital and our patients. Document patient treatment legibly, free of errors, or omissions using only approved abbreviations; documents all pertinent patient information pertaining to behavioral changes, moods, conversations, group attendance, signs of physical illness, and objective observation; learn to lead recreational, and therapeutic activities; develop skills to provide therapeutic interactions; assist patients on admission by orienting to the unit, explain ASH policies, patient rights, and their individual treatment plans; develop teaching skills in areas of ADL's, social skills, coping skills; assist in the orientation of new MHPS and MHPS floating to the unit; maintain safety and security for patients and staff; respond to psychiatric/medical emergencies with patients; report patient behavioral changes, and all abnormal findings to the psychiatric nurse; assist patients in completing self care activities; observe and interact with assigned patients and groups, and assist in therapeutic activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs): Knowledge of basic mental health principles; techniques of treatment; therapeutic interaction, practices, behavior management, and motivation techniques; basic group process; patient rights; infection control; safety policies/procedures; concepts of performance improvement activities. Skills in teaching activities of daily living; personal hygiene, money management, social skills, communication skills; coping skills, and community resources as part of discharge planning; providing para-professional nursing care as directed; providing therapeutic interactions, and group activities. Abilities to document patient care timely, objectively, and in a concise fashion according to hospital policy/procedure; identify and report patient behavioral changes and all abnormal physical findings to the psychiatric nurse; respond to psychiatric, and medical emergencies. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or counseling with an emphasis on clinical work and/or have experience in a behavioral health setting. Minimum education: candidate must provide evidence of a high school diploma or GED. Employment for this position is contingent upon passing a medical/physical exam and a background investigation. PSYCHIATRIC NURSE II

Salary range: $60,324 - $70,087* (GRADE 20) * Includes 20% Stipend added to base. Salary is based on years of professional psychiatric experience as a Registered Nurse; 50% credit is given for med/surg. experience in consideration of total experience and salary consideration. New employees will receive bonus payments totaling $4,000 in addition to regular compensation during the first year of employment, subject to eligibility.

Responsible and accountable for patient care during assigned shift. Establish patient priorities and evaluate patient outcomes. Transcribe physicians' orders and administer medication and treatments. Participate with the treatment team in the development of Individual Treatment and Discharge Plans. Provide individual and group therapeutic interventions. Provide on going patient education. Serve as a primary nurse to assigned patients. Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies. Use the concepts of performance improvement to improve the quality of patient care, Serve as a role model for para-professional staff. Assist in the orientation and clinical supervision of staff. Assist nursing students with their clinical experience. Know and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures as well as standards of all regulatory agencies. Assign nursing care of patients and supervise the provision of care.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs): Knowledge of the principles of psychiatric nursing and general principles of medical, adolescent, geriatric, and forensic nursing; the nursing process in the development of patient care plans; psychiatric rehabilitation; pharmacology; infection control; effective communication techniques, both oral and written; hospital policies and procedures; patient rights and responsibilities; concepts of performance improvement activities; basic computer programs and software related to the health record. Skills in the assessment of patients' physical and mental status; patients' needs; communicating with patients, nursing staff, members of the treatment team and other departments; therapeutic interventions; providing education to patients and staff; documenting observations and interventions. RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST I

Entry Salary: $30,520 (GRADE 15)
Arizona Community Protection & Treatment Center

LOCATION: ARIZONA COMMUNITY PROTECTION & TREATMENT CENTER (ACPTC) ON THE GROUNDS OF ARIZONA STATE HOSPITAL, 2500 E. VAN BUREN, PHOENIX AZ. OPEN CONTINUOUS, VARIOUS SHIFTS.

Performs assigned job tasks in the specialized care, treatment, and security of civilly committed sex offenders at the Arizona Community Protection and Treatment Center (ACPTC). Serves as a team member in specialized therapy programs by facilitating in the development and implementation of treatment/management plans for residents. Assesses needs and prepares progress reports and/or charts findings. Confers with clinical staff in the evaluation, treatment, and management of residents. Conducts inspections of sanitary compliance. Conducts searches of rooms and residents for contraband. Provides resident escort as needed within the institution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILTIES (KSA'S): Knowledge of federal, state, and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing security of the institution; basic principles and practices of rehabilitation; principles of dynamics of human behavior in an institution and the practice of crisis intervention; the principles and practices of residents' work incentive programs; principles and practices of resident's complaint procedure and due processes; methods and practices of compiling and maintaining case records. Skills in interpreting federal, state, and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the institution's residents; applying basic principles and practices of rehabilitation; recognizing resident disorientation, aggressiveness, and/or combative behavior and addressing potential problems. Abilities to coordinate work incentive program and treatment plans; lead therapeutic treatment, educational, and recreational activities; verbally interact on a one-to-one basis with residents to resolve problems; prepare accurate progress reports. Minimum education: candidate must provide evidence of a high school diploma or GED. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or counseling or an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in social, behavioral or related science and have experience in a behavioral health setting or with sex offenders. SECURITY OFFICER I

Entry Salary: $26,284 (GRADE 15) Salary increases after 6 months, 1 year and 2 years of employment in addition to any applicable general salary increase.

Performs routine duties maintaining security of the Arizona State Hospital and the Arizona Community Protection and Treatment Center; provides emergency response services for forensic and civilly-committed patients. ROTATING SHIFTS.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA's): Candidate will have experience in security operations. Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency and a valid Arizona Drivers License.
